Another year passes...

And at the strike of midnight a new year will be upon us. I will be spending a quiet evening at home with my daughter and son and his girlfriend. A perfect evening in my eyes. I am not one to party per-say. I like to visit and socialize, but I am not a drinker, I never have been. I was/am always the designated driver. I felt it was always a good thing so no one ever had to worry about drinking too much. I hope everyone that is choosing to drink this evening has a plan to get home safely.

A new year to me means new goals. I don't really make resolutions, but I do have accomplishments that I want to complete and I do want to learn to accept the things I cannot change. I feel I am ever changing and for the better. Going to college has made me a better person and has made me more aware of so many things. Education, can it really do that? I think so. Education opens doors and minds. I will graduate in May and then I start another new adventure, a career. I have never had a career before. I have had jobs, and my art, which is my passion, but never a career. I miss my art, but it is still there, waiting...

Soul-searching and reflecting is normally what I do this time of year. I feel it is important for each one of us to do that from time to time. We need to know who we are, who we want to be, where we are, and where we are going or want to be. Goals and dreams are also important for everyone to have. For the longest time I didn't dream and I didn't have goals. I didn't like the person I was becoming. I had to make changes for me and I am so glad that I did.

Winter?

I had to "borrow" a winter picture from the internet (hyper-link attached to the picture). Normally, this time of year we have plenty of snow, but not this year and that is fine by me. Some say that it does not "feel" like Christmas without any snow, but for me, I think the "feeling" of Christmas is from within and it is what is in your heart. I simply cannot believe how fast this month has flown by. It is nearly Christmas and I am still wondering where November went? Time seems to go by faster as I get older. Attending college sure doesn't help out with the whole time factor thou.

I am happy to say that I received all A's in my classes, however, I did not make the president's list, but I did make the dean's list. Fine by me! I am happy and I did my best! Two of my generals' classes gave me a 'run for my money' and I honestly thought I was going receive a B in each class. I will take an A- anytime. I am elated to be finished with six more general credits, along side with the core classes that I completed this semester. There was a ton of reading in my generals' classes, as well as, essays, portfolio building, critiquing, discussions, and video watching with writing responses to the videos. They were both on-line classes. I am just glad to be done and I am doing the HAPPY DANCE!!

I have break until January 9 and I am so very thankful. I can breathe and take some time for ME. I created some Christmas cards and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I stayed up way to late but it sure did feel good! I missed creating.

Feeling the PRESSURE!

Next week is the last week of this semester and I must admit, I couldn't be more thrilled! This semester has virtually kicked my butt! I am not one that likes to read in long lengths and this semester I have done more reading than I care to even think about. I am not much of a reader, unless it is one of my magazines with my favorite artists or it has something to do with creating.

I am in Intro. to Art (an online course) and basically all I get to do is READ! Yup, chapter after chapter. Can we say FUN? And if that weren't enough, I have Freshman English and more reading. Double fun! I still have to work on my final essay, which is an argumentative essay. I completed my English final today...I hope I did okay. It is a tough class and I did the best I could.

I get to complete four more finals. I will be done the end of next week. It could not come soon enough because I am totally FEELING THE PRESSURE! Anxiety has kicked in and I am exhausted. I really can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Spring semester is just around the corner and I will finally get to play! I am registered for Ceramics 1, Painting 1, Two-Dimensional Art, and I have two online core classes. I just hope I will enjoy myself while fulfilling some of my generals. I completed all of my mandatory generals and the remaining generals were free reign. Of course, I had to sign up for a little bit of art. I was a little bit disappointed that they did not offer a photography course during the spring semester. I registered for what was available.

During the week of December 19, I hope I will be able to create some cards. I know a bit late and they will probably be received late, but "better late - than never!" I am itching to use some of my new Tim Holtz winter Sizzix dies. I want to make something similar to this, but I have not received my pine cone die. The NOEL die is one of my favorite for latest releases. It has such a vintage look to it. My cards will have to do without the pine cone for those that are being sent in the mail. Is anyone else following the "12 Tags of Christmas" on Tim's blog? I love waking up each morning and getting my Tim - tag fix. I love this time of year. I can't believe this is already day 9 and there are only 3 more tags left. I love learning new techniques and I simply cannot wait to have time to try some of those new techniques. I keep tell myself..."all in good time!"

Take Time to Give Thanks!

Each year around this time all we hear is about "Black Friday" this and "I want that for Christmas." Well, I went to check my yahoo mail and found an article about 'Black Friday' promotions for Wal-Mart. I don't know why they are calling it 'Black Friday' when most are having it on Thursday evening.

This move, (the Thursday evening bit) really bothers me. I feel Thanksgiving is a time to be with family. I feel that we should 'Give Thanks' and take time to be 'thankful' for all the things we do have instead of worrying about the things we may want. What has happened to the thought of family and spending good quality time with one another? I think that is a major part of what is wrong with society.

Most are so busy with their electronic devices that no one pays attention to what is really going on around them and within their home. I was reading some of the comments that people are have made on the Wal-Mart article and I applaud most of them! They say to "buy American." "Stay home with your family" and "have a family breakfast." Some also stated, because of opening so early in the evening, some do not even get to be with their families on Thanksgiving because they have work for the 'Black Friday' preparation. How sad that we have put 'things' as our priority in life, rather than 'family.'

I just know that as I get older, I realize what is important to me, in my life, and it is not"things!" I wish more people would take the time to be with family this season and be appreciative for what we/they do have. Be thankful that you do have your loved ones to spend this time with.

I am going to get back to my studying. I have to create a portfolio in art, write a critique essay for English, work on my spreadsheets, and also my Integrated documents. I am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed...but I am taking it one day at a time and putting one foot in front of the other. That is all I can do. I hope you have a wonderful day! Cheers, ~Tonya

FYI- the picture listed was found here and I thought it was a really neat picture. A little to do with art and it said the 'sentiment' that I wanted to say. I clicked on it and what did I find? A blog that says "Try Handmade" at the top! How appropriate!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN to ME!!

I was LUCKY enough to be chosen for an ART CAMP from Terri Brush! I still cannot believe that I WON! I am in sheer bliss and will have something to look forward to during the long cold winter months. If that was not enough, I was also given the flight to Oregon from another very generous person. Talk about the stars perfectly aligning for this to happen...Things like this do not happen to me (normally)! I was on Cloud 9 all day and still am!

This is a picture from the gals that were just at Art Camp in October. From visiting Terri's blog, I can tell they all had a wonderful time! Everything looks AMAZING! From the art classes, to the food, the desserts (my favorite), the ocean view, making new friends, and so many wonderful memories made are all priceless! I can't wait until April to make my own memories and friends that will last a lifetime!

I cannot express my feelings into words appropriately for such generous gifts from two women whom I've never met. Thank you for the bottom of my heart ~ you will never know how much this means to me.

After a long day at school, then being at my daughter's fall party at school as a room parent, and then out trick or treating with my daughter's....it is finally nice to be home! HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all of you! I just know this is one Halloween that I will remember for the rest of my life!

As time goes by I am reminded that to everything there is a season and a purpose. Time must be appreciated. Time is so very precious to me but stands still for no one. I am in my second year of college and half way through my third semester. I will graduate in May! I can't help but think of all the time I spend with my nose in the books and completing homework, yet, there is a purpose and I must obtain my goal. I must keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I miss creating and having free time. Free time to just "BE." Be able to spend time with my children without having to worry about what assignment or essay is due. Be able to just rest, if only for a while, without having (what feels like) the weight of the world on my shoulders. I know there are others that are going through the same thing or worse, but I can't help but wonder ~ When will life get easier?

I Am...

I found this inspirational quote on Facebook. I think it fits me to a "T" and I feel most women can relate. If not, then they may be fooling themselves? I know that I have not been posting much on creating, but I am truly finding myself, somewhere out there.

I am becoming educated. I am more patient. I am more in-tune to my own thoughts and own feelings. I am hopeful. I am building for my future. I am content.My eyes and mind are wide open. At the same time, I am scared. I am lost. I am confused. I feel detached. I feel alone.

Isn't it amazing how we can feel whole and feel broken all at once. Emotions are very complicated if you try to put them into perspective. I know that I am becoming more of a person that I have always wanted to be. I am!

~Scary Mary Halloween Doll~

***FINALLY*** a NEW Halloween Dollie! I should just say a NEW dollie in general. I think I have only made one other dollie this year and that was a dollie with bunny ears. This is my first Halloween dollie. Halloween is just around the corner. I have listed her in my Etsy Shoppe, but if she does not sell by Tuesday, I may move her to Ebay, we shall see...

Her name is Scary Mary, but she really does have a sweet side to her. She has tons of detail. I really enjoyed creating her. I have missed creating. I was so busy with my summer college courses and children, that I didn't have any time until now for creating. I do hope that you will stop by my Etsy Shoppe to take a peek at her. Oh, how they grow!!!

Since I have not posted to my blog for so long, some of you may think that I have fallen off the face of the earth. Jordan, my oldest, has turned 16! He turned 16 on August 2. I made his favorite for his birthday cake, homemade strawberry shortcake, from scratch and real whipped cream. YUM!!

Look at the height on him! He is about 6'2" now and I feel like a midget compared to him. I am only about 5'7". Wow, I feel short compared to him. Jordan was staying with my sister for almost a whole month. He was working for Pioneer in the fields. I missed him! I couldn't stay away thou, I did go and visit.

Then there was Courtney's birthday! She turned 14 on August 4. My middle child, she is growing up to be quite the young lady.

And last but not least, my Ninny (Sydney) my youngest. She will be 10 next month. This picture was taken on my birthday (August 9) and I am now officially 38 years young. I sure don't feel 38. When people get older, they say "Another year older and another year wiser." This year, I can honestly say that is true!!

The day after my birthday, I took my kids and my nephew, to Valleyfair amusement park. We had a BLAST! This is Jordan, Sydney, and Cody on Thunder Canyon. Courtney and I didn't want to get wet just yet. I loved all the rides, I always do! Yup, you can't keep me off the rides, especially the roller coasters. The faster and taller, all the more fun! I will ride on rides that some of my kids won't. LOL See, still a kid at heart ♥

And then on August 12, my son got his license! I can honestly say I am a bit worried about him being on the road, but I am mom, and that is my job! He is a good driver. This is Jordan in his new set of wheels. He got a new paint job on his truck, along with rhino on the bottom. Looks pretty sharp; if I do say so myself!

Funny boy, he said he was going to wait to get it painted until after he got home from working in the fields...good thing mom is always a quick thinker and on her toes! He said, "Mom, I am so glad I got it painted before I got my license, there is no way I could wait to have it painted while I have my license."

I finished my Biology class early, so that I could enjoy what little there is left of summer, with my children. We also went and visited my mom (grandma to my kids) today. It was beautiful day and we had a very nice visit. What more could I ask for? Time just goes by too quickly.

FYI - Those same two dollies are still on my studio table. I must get to working on them. Maybe sometime this week....I have a little down time where I may be able to play! Knock on wood! I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer. Cheers to you! ~Tonya

Time flies!

When you are having fun? I wouldn't say that I have been having fun, but I sure am learning quite a bit! I have not posted on my blog for well over a month and all I can say is "I have been working my butt off!"

We had a major sale at our home. We got rid of a lot of stuff. I have gone through and organized most everything in my home. I have thrown away a ton of JUNK that no one would want and we certainly do not need and boy....does it feel good! Besides all of that, I have been taking my second summer college course and I must admit, these summer courses are pretty intense, demanding, and so much more work than what I ever thought! I also helped my son with some of his body work on his truck (many hours), it is being painted as we speak.

Jordan is staying at my sister's house while working for Pioneer (I miss him) and I will pick him up on the 1st for him to stay home for one night, put his truck back together and spend his birthday with him on the 2nd. He is going to take his driving test (fingers crossed that he passes) and then back to Mankato to work for the following day. I can't believe he is turning 16 already!

Back to the Biology thing, the summer courses move along very quickly, so there is no room for error, no room for procrastination, and you just must force yourself to do your work accordingly! Summer for me has been my nose to the books and essay questions, some discussions, and lots of tests! I have found new hope within myself, I have become focused, and have almost dropped 20 pounds! Can we say focused! I have to be...

I have found many things out about myself and who I want to be and who I don't want to be. There comes a time in each person's life when they finally put all the pieces together and know exactly where I want them to be.

Now for the creating aspect of me...I miss creating immensely! I have two Halloween dollies on my studio table waiting to be stained and put together! I will get there. I am trying to work a head in class so that I can spend time with Jordan on the 2nd and Courtney on the 4th for their birthdays. Then, the class is over on the 13th, but I am hoping I will be done before that. We shall see. Time has just not been on my slide this summer and time tends to slip away from me much to often. FUN - FUN!!

Sociology, the scientific study of human social behavior. This is what I have been studying lately. A summer course. Imagine knocking out a whole book, I believe 22 chapters, in just 5 short weeks. Not to mention that I am getting ready for a MASSIVE sale for the last weekend in June!

In Sociology, we need to read/study 4 chapters every week, answer questions on them, and have a 3 hour test every single week for 5 weeks. I have the first week under my belt already. I only have 4 more weeks to go. I then have a 2 day break and on to another course, Biology. Can we say FUN - FUN?

I have been dabbling with my poor little dollies that are laying on my studio table wanting some much needed attention. Of course they are Halloween dollies. I could not help myself, I could no longer resist the temptation. Everyone knows that I adore Halloween and it is my most favorite time of the year to create for. If you think about it, there is not that much time until Halloween.

What is up with blogger lately?

What has been up with blogger lately? I have wanted to blog, not that I have anything interesting going on ;) I have tried to get into my dashboard to visit the blogs I follow, but that has been a hurdle to jump as well.

On my desktop, my blog things are not at the top of the page, so I tried my laptop and yes, it worked, which now makes me lead to believe that I may have a virus. JOY! I have scanned and scanned my desktop, still no change with the blogger issue. I don't know...

I give up! It is simply not worth the time I have spent on it. On another note, it is MAY and we have our furnace on! What is wrong with the picture. We have had rain, wind, and cooler temps. It feels like fall all over again. This crazy Minnesota weather. My heart goes out to all of the families that have been affected by the tornadoes and the devastation the tornadoes have left behind. My thoughts and prayers are with all of them.

Recently we purchased some new furniture (still waiting for our other sofa) but I thought I would show you my progress so far. I love the contemporary and somewhat whimsical look to my now "new living room." I would have never chose a color scheme or furniture design like this a couple of years ago. I guess I can say that I have changed quite a bit.

I love the crisp look to my living room. It is uncluttered and it is very inviting, not to mention very cheery! Every time I see the new vinyl wall art, it makes me smile. I have wanted to do something with vinyl wall art for years, but frankly, I was a bit scared. I can now say, that I am glad I finally took the plunge!

In the first photo, you can see that the wall is a pretty yellow. Again, I never thought I would have yellow in my home. As I get older, my decorating is changing, not to mention many, many other things. Just to name a few, my thoughts, my views, and my style per-say. I am very pleased with the wall art and my living room and thought I would share.

On another note, I am done with spring semester! Yay! I always get so stressed the last week of the semester. I can say that I received a 4.0 for 16 credits/6 classes for spring semester and I couldn't be happier. I will be listed on the president's list this time. I made the dean's list for the fall semester, which was my first semester back in 18 years. I can say that I am happy, but it was a lot of hard work! I am at the half-way mark. I just hope everything goes as planned and I graduate next year at this time.

There is light...

at the end of the tunnel for me! This semester has been long and I am so relieved that it is almost over. I think I may still have the winter "hum-drums", from have such a long winter and a slow start to spring. Finally, I see light at the end of the tunnel!

I have only a couple of finals left and then I will be finished with this semester on Wednesday! I can hardly contain the excitement. I also started a part-time job as a general assistant. What was I thinking? It is at a place where they do a lot of printing and for the most part, make reproductions of manuals. They also print many other things and put transfers on t-shirts as well. There is a lot of different things to learn there and I figured I could use the experience, as I have not worked outside my home for anyone else in about 10 years.

I have not created, nor blogged, there has not been anything fun to share. My thoughts were, same thing, different day, so why blog about it, right? I have signed up for a couple of summer classes (I may just be torturing myself?) and I have heard that summer classes can be brutal. We shall see. I want to knock some of my generals out of the way. I would be able to knock 6 credits out in just 25 days for each class. I am sure it can be done, but I will have to stay focused and stay on top of my studies!

As I gather my thoughts this morning and plan out my day, I was looking out the window and I seen not one Robin, but several of them. We tend to mark spring arriving with the sight of these beautiful orange breasted birds. I did see one last week, but only one. We also received snow last week, several inches mind you. As each day passes during the tale-end of winter, I often wonder to myself, how much longer can I handle the harsh, bitter cold and the massive amounts of snow and then spring slowly tip-toes in....I am so very thankful ♥

Since the Robins were still so scarce last week, I knew that there was still a short while to wait patiently and be hopeful that we did not receive anymore snow, while waiting for spring. Meanwhile, we still have quite a bit of snow on the ground, the weather was beautiful yesterday and the temps were into the low 50's. What more could we ask for.

Although, I would love all of the snow to melt instantly, it must be a gradual melt, as they have predicted massive amounts of flooding in Minnesota. It breaks my heart to think that many cities have to prepare for such. Those areas that they have been predicted as flood areas are already making sand bags by the thousands, several thousands and building walls in preparation for flooding.

While Mother Nature has so much beauty to unfold before our very eyes, there is also anger within. The devastation in Japan just leaves my heart so heavy. When will it end? They have endured so much and how much more can they handle. My heart goes out to each and every one of them. Peaceful blessings to each of you and thank you for taking the time to visit. ♥Tonya

A sweet RAK (random act of kindness). Sweet Mo at Wings and Paws Whimsies is having a giveaway. She is giving away this adorable Easter assemblage. Mo is celebrating her new endeavor with teaching others to solder and create beautiful master pieces, such as the one above. Stop by her blog and read about her new adventure.

If you are in the Washington/Oregon area, she is teaching classes or you can host a class in your home. I wish I lived close to her so that I could take that class. I love learning and some day, I will learn to solder, even if I have to learn by trial and error. I have learned most of everything I know by trial and error and I must admit, for me, it is one of the best ways to learn.

Mo puts lots of love in to each of her creations, I should know, I am lucky enough to own a couple of her pieces. She is also on the same selling site I am, The Prim Nest, be sure to check it out!

I am happy to say that I have a full week off from school, yay!! I am going to work in my hallway, priming, sanding, and painting. No, I am still not done, but little-by-little, it is getting there. I told you it was a major project. While away from school I am also going to make time to play!

I am so looking forward to spring! This winter has taken every ounce of my patience and I no longer want to see any new snow blanketing mother earth. It is time to move on to spring I say. Here is to being productive this week and taking some time for ME! Cheers, Tonya

We ALL have a voice...

Today, while waiting for my children to get done with school, I really didn't have anything to do. So, I parked in a public parking lot and was reading an art magazine. I had been listening to the radio, but got tired of the commercials, so I shut it off. Everything was quiet and all of a sudden I heard all this yelling and swearing. It was a man and women. I could not see them and did not know where the screaming and yelling was coming from. I rolled down my window and listened. I was looking frantically all over...

Finally, I seen them! The women was toting two large baskets full of stuff. One stacked on top of the other. She was crying and telling the man to just let her go! Quite a few other things were said, but you get the idea. The man was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and was barefoot! Yes, barefoot! Mind you, it was in the 20's with a sleet/snow mix coming down. He was running ahead of her and yelled, you are not leaving! If you leave, I will break that f-ing windshield.

I dialed 911 on my cell phone and hit send. I hung up immediately and thought to myself, I will wait just a bit and see what happens. I was scared for her. Their vehicle was about 6 spaces down from mine and cars parked all around us/them. The windows were wet from the rain and they didn't know I was there.

The yelling, arguing, and swearing went on for a while. He locked himself in the vehicle and would not let her in to leave. He kept opening and shutting the door, yelling and so forth. I thought something may happen because at this time things were escalating. I got out of my van and waved my arms so she could see me and put my hand up to my ear and showed her the phone. I mouthed the words "do you want me to call the cops?"

She yelled to the man and said, if you don't let me go, that lady is going to call the cops. Some more swearing and rudeness came out of his mouth and then he seen me. I stepped closer to their vehicle. He immediately retracted and I think he was ashamed. He said he would never hurt her or break the windshield. The lady said, yeah right! I told them, I have seen to much domestic violence in my life and I am not about to let anything happen on my watch. I told them, I will call the cops if need be.

I waited outside in the rain/snow, until she left. In the meantime, there was a gal that seen the last tail end of it. She pulled up to me, rolled her window down, asked what had happened. I briefly explained. She said, you may have just saved her life. I don't know if I did save her life. None of us ever know what goes on behind closed doors or in a mentally unstable person's mind.

I just know, he was trying to control her and she wanted to leave. He was threatening her and I feel things could have escalated, had I not been there. I just know, when domestic violence (or any violence for that matter) is going on and you hear/see it, you should speak up! It is your civic duty to try to help or speak up! I honestly feel that way.

It is so odd to think that I was not suppose to be there, at that time, and in that place. I never go there and today, of all days, I was there. I do believe everything happens for a reason. Maybe I was supposed to be there to help that gal? Who knows what could have happened. There was no one else around during the whole incident, only me, until the tail end. I was glad I was there and I was glad I spoke up.

I know someone may read this that thinks, well, Tonya probably made things worse. Or maybe thinking that gal is back in that same situation tonight. Well, maybe she is? But I know, I did what was right. That is all that matters. I cannot control what others do and how they handle a situation. All I can do is try to help when I feel someone needs help. I did my civic duty and just thought I would share my story. Maybe someday it could be your daughter, your grand daughter, niece, or sister, and wouldn't you like to know that someone would speak up on her behalf. Something to think about. Yes sirree! Finally, a NEW Dollie! The first one this year as a matter of fact. Where does the time go? Tomorrow is already March 1 and this is my first handmade for the year. I can tell you where my time goes and it is generally in the books...

The NEW site is ~The Prim Nest~ I am so glad to be a part of The Prim Nest. I needed something extra to do, right? Not really, but I do really miss creating and I thought I would be able to create here and there. The site will update on the 1st and 15th of each month. I am always going to try to have something new for the 1st of each month and if I get something finished for the 15th, well then that is a bonus!

This is Sweet Lily. All of her lil extra's can be removed and then just be a sweet everyday dollie. I had lots of fun bringing her to life and I do hope that you will stop by and take a peek. I must go and get back to the books and my homework, which seems to be never ending. That's okay, I am up for the challenge and already at my halfway point for the semester! How very exciting! There are a lot of wonderful artists on the Prim Nest site, but you will have to wait until March 1, to find out who the are. I know, no fair *smirk*

Another thing that I must *CHIRP* about is the Prim Nest blog. They have a little bit of a give-a-way going on. You will have to stop by the Prim Nest blog to see what can be won.

I thought I would also share with you a little bit of spring? We DID have some nice spring "teaser" weather here and the birds were chirping. It was wonderful. We had weather near the 50's, then old man winter had to rear it's ugly head again! Yuppers, a winter storm hit over the weekend and we are still in the midst of the storm. We have had a little bit of everything. We have had rain, sleet, wind, snow, thundering, and pretty cold temperatures.

How very disheartening. I was so excited and looking forward to spring, but I knew in my heart-of-hearts that winter was not done. I have had a little bit of time for creating, which has been long overdue. I immensely enjoy creating, but really do not have the time to create with my studies for college.

Ever thought about....

Have you ever thought about the ripple effect you could cause with your life had you made one single decision differently. Have you ever thought about the lives you have touched by a certain gesture you made or by a certain random act of kindness.

I wonder if others think about how they may have touched my life. But does anyone ever think about if they did just one thing differently, how it could cause a ripple effect in their life or possibly in others. I tend to ponder about certain things lately and all the "what if's." How can one not think about the "what if's" in their life.

Certain times in your life you can't help but wonder...I will leave you with a poem that I felt was so appropriate for this post.

Just B-R-E-A-T-H-E!

Today I do not have school. I only have one class on Friday's and my teacher is still detained in Atlanta. Flights were canceled due to the weather and she could not obtain another flight until this weekend. We still had assignments due for her class this week, but uploaded them, online. Technology, what a wonderful thing, but that means NO SNOW DAYS, even if you can't make it to school. HA!

With each new semester comes new stress. The first week or two of every semester is especially stressful, to say the least. New schedules, new classes, new teachers, and everyone must get back on schedule. Now I know why my kids are always so excited for a day away from school. Mind you, I have been working on homework all morning, but the feeling of being caught-up or ahead, is a REALLY GOOD FEELING! For a day or two I felt like a "fish out of water." I am sure you can all relate from some type of situation in your life.

I don't have anything creative to share, but I am learning and growing a lot as a person through my education and experiences. That is worth it's weight in gold! I was also the lucky recipient of a scholarship. That will be very useful and I am very grateful to have been chosen for a scholarship. Filling out the scholarship application, writing the essay and getting a recommendation was a lot work, but well worth it in the end.

Having a goal and working towards something is so very satisfying. You must have the right mind-set, determination and enthusiasm. You must look at each new day as a gift (an opportunity) and be thankful you are given that opportunity each and every day. Have a fabulous weekend. Cheers, Tonya

Another day...

has come and gone. A peaceful day today. Tomorrow, I go back to school. I didn't exactly get a lot things done that I thought I was going to while on break, but did find time to relax and spend time with family. It is good to take time to do that as well.

Quite often we all get lost in our lives and don't always take the time we should. This year, I am going to make more time for myself and take better care of me. As a mom, I always do things for others and worry about others, now it is time to worry about me. Sound selfish, maybe to some, but to others that know me; know that I very seldom make time for myself.

With school, school work, three children, the endless housework and budget, well that does not leave much time for anything really. Just thinking out loud here a bit, I guess. Wishing each of you a better year than last and here is to beginning each new day with beauty all around. Mother nature is a glorious painter of perfection, isn't she? how awesome the Tras-Siberian Orchestra was last night! My mom and I went to Minneapolis, St. Paul and seen their holiday show. It was AMAZING! The music, the lasers, the lights, the video screen wall, the pyro-techno, fireworks and their voices with such magnitude....

it is indescribable! I enjoyed myself immensely and most likely will never forget it. Now, you may think of an orchestra of a bit slow and some may even think a bit boring. Not this orchestra if you have ever heard of them. Trans Siberian Orchestra takes it to a whole new level and borders on the verge of heavy metal in some respects. Some may think of it as just noise, as for me, I like almost all music and thoroughly enjoyed myself and the show.

There was not a moment that went without entertainment. If ever the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is in your area and you like all types of music, I highly recommend this show! We were on the second level, facing the stage, and we were able to see everything! The laser show from above was phenomenal to say the least! If you search Trans-Siberian Orchestra on youtube, you will be able to see some of the show, but video does not do the show justice at all.

I had a blast with my mom! I must tell you, my mom is such a trooper. She just had a total knee replacement on Dec. 13 and she didn't let it stop her one bit. This is the second time my mom has been to the show and she would go again and again. I enjoyed my time away, now back to reality. Cheers, Tonya

This is what it looked like today, as well as this evening. Snowing, blowing and huge drifts. Snow and more snow. We are going to break record snowfall for Minnesota in December this year. The kids got out of school early today, but not early enough. In my opinion, the schools should have closed at about 10 a.m. It was terrible out and you couldn't see past our property line at about 8:30 a.m. but the superintendent never takes the country roads into consideration. They closed the schools three hours early...

The roads were so bad today that a bus went into the ditch. No one was hurt, but they never think of those poor bus drivers that have to take all of those children home. I have nothing but great respect for every single bus driver out there. The crap they have to put up with, I don't think they get paid enough.

I knew the schools would close early today and I honestly don't think they will have school tomorrow. I also don't think that I can get down my driveway to take the kids to the bus, even if they do have school. It would do no good to plow the driveway now, the wind is to fierce. The drifts are tall and when I picked the kids up at the end of the driveway today at about 1:30 p.m. the drifts were pretty high then and I almost got stuck a few times.

I am thankful I am done with school until January! YAY!! I got all straight A's and am pretty happy with myself. It was a lot of hard work, but it was a challenge that I was/am up for. Just think, I already have one-quarter of my schooling out of the way. Time sure flies when your having fun. :) I am so happy for the break from school thou, I can breath and catch my breath. I was up in my studio playing today. I am making some last minute things for gifts.

This past weekend, the kids and I went to my mom's house, stayed the night and baked our little hearts out. One of my sisters was there with her son as well. We made all sorts of goodies, we even made homemade caramels. YUM! They turned out absolutely PERFECT! Wishing each of you a wonderful week and a Magical Holiday Season. Cheers, Tonya

LUCKY ME!!

I was the LUCKY recipient of the BEAUTIFUL handmade wool hooked rug. I won this Jolly Snowman from Rhonda of "My Glory Stars." Rhonda's work is AMAZING and the colors are so very PERFECT for this rug. I could not believe I won. When I woke up on Sunday morning, I was greeted with an e-mail from Rhonda, stating that I had won. What a great way to start off the morning.

You will have to visit Rhonda's blog, as her work is simply amazing. Besides making hooked rugs, Rhonda also makes needle punched handmades. I adore my rug and will have to find the perfect spot for Mr. Jolly! The colors are perfect for me, as the blue in the background is about the same color as my studio.

I honestly don't think that I can put this sweet creation away for the year, once winter is over with. So, Mr. Jolly will reside with me, in my studio, so that I may enjoy him all year through. Thank you again, Rhonda. I will treasure him always. I adore him!!

Random Thoughts...

We finally received some measurable snow on Friday. Not a whole lot, but enough to make it look like winter/Christmas. It had been quite chilly too.

Well, this semester is getting down to the nitty-gritty! Most of my finals are this week and then 2 next week. Wow, how time has flown right by. I am very pleased with this semester (grade wise). And on Friday, I got 94% on one of my tests. I was very happy and pleased with myself. Remember, Grammar and English have never been my strong suite and that is what I got the "A" on, so yes, I was pleased as punch! I was grinning ear to ear.

We take our tests online and once you are finished, you see your grade immediately. I love the fact that you do not have to wait to find out your grade. Technology and what it can do, it is simply amazing, if you think about it.

There is not really anything else to share, except our kitty is doing a bit better, but still not 100 percent. Thank you for all of your kind words. I hope you all have a wonderful week. Cheers, ~Tonya (I will be studying hard all week!)

New listings on Etsy...

I did find some time to finish Sweet Sally Snow Bunny! I have listed her and my hand made tags on Etsy. This is probably the last dollie for the year. My time is very limited in the creating department.
Sweet Sally has lots and lots of detail put into her. I love how she finished up. She has so much class and that black and white together, just so clean and crisp looking together. I even gave her some painted little leggins'.

Here is one set of my hand stamped tags. Is is the only set. Actually all three sets, they are all that is available. I have finished this set in German glass glitter. Pictures do not do these tags justice. It was very cold old, my fingers froze and I did not want to go back outside for natural lighting. In person they are so very pretty...

This set is without the German glass glitter, but still looks just as pretty. It all depends on what "look" you are after for your Christmas packages or your decor. Wouldn't they look so pretty on a feather tree.

And my last set of tags, a pretty reindeer. In person, there is so much detail in the reindeer. Little candy canes and such. Very neat. I have finished off the antlers with glitter, but you cannot really see that in the pictures. Oh well, I tried.

In the works...

Yes, I have something in the works. I have been trying to finish it up for a while now, but life just gets too busy. I did get to work on it this past weekend, but with Thanksgiving and such, there just is not enough time in a day.

It is something to do with snow, of course, and she is so very sweet. I started her quite a while ago and she has been waiting to be finished up. I hope to finish her up this week. I also made some tags and pretty cards, but have not had a chance to get any pictures taken. Maybe I can get pictures in the next day or two...

There is going to be a change in the weather here too. We received more rain yesterday. Yes, rain! Here this is the end of November and in Minnesota and well, it just doesn't feel like Minnesota lately. That is okay, I can handle no snow. I think that is about to change thou. High winds are kicking up and snow is in the forecast.

I thought I would stop in and say HI. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I also wanted to say Thank you, for all of your kind words about my Kitty-Cat Kinko. He is doing better, but he is still on the road to recovery. Have a beautiful day. ~Tonya

A TOUGH week!

This week started out with my beloved cat, Kinko, contracting a disease called Vestibular disease. What is that? Well in humans, it would be like "vertigo". It is brought on without reason or cause and your cat may look or appear to have had a stroke. The cat looses all sense of balance and it so scared, that it cries out loud, with a bellowing cry. Their eyes can move rapidly, back and forth and that is something that I will never forget. To see his eyes dilated and moving as they did, is just something I never want to see again. He could not walk, his neck was turned to the side like it was hinged and stuck in place.

The first 48 to 72 hours are the worst! I had to force feed my poor kitty and he was practically life-less and when he did move, he looked as if he was a robotic cat. A very sad state for an owner and for children to see. With each passing day, he is getting better. They say that 50% of cats make a full recovery. Some never make a full recovery and some will still have a tilt of their head as a result of contracting Vestibular disease...

Kinko is one of the most adorable cats I have ever owned. He is mild mannered and will drop to the floor, with a roll-over, to his back and stretch out for a nice belly rub. He will paw at my arm to have me pet him. He is just adorable! Kinko is still very unstable on his feet, but has started to eat a bit on his own. His eyes are no longer dialated and moving. All very good signs. He have a long way to go, but he is doing better and that is good.

***KINKO is his name because when he found my hubby at his place of employment, he was homeless, hungry, and had a crimp in his tail. Poor kitty. Hence, he became our Kinko. ;)

As if that was not enough--our furnace went out on Wednesday morning! It was out from about 9:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Darrel was working, so I did what I thought was best. I turned on a couple of electric heaters. Well, that was a mistake. I tripped the breakers and reset them. I unplugged one heater, tried the other two again, they tripped again and I could not get them reset. So there we were, without heat in 26 degrees weather. It did get down to 42 degrees in here, thank goodness it was only for a short time.

I am very thankful that hubby is so handy! He got the furnace going and we are warm and toasty again. Needless to say, I do not want to repeat this week again, EVER! I am behind on my homework, so guess what I get to do this weekend? Any guesses? Homework. I am over joyed about that. I will get a little done each day. I am pretty diligent about that. I did want to work in my studio, but as we all know, our best laid plans don't always work out. I hope you all have a blessed weekend. I for one, am glad it is the weekend. It is official, winter is on the way here, in Minnesota! Mankato, (about an hour away from me) is expected to get around 8 inches of snow, by Sunday evening. Yuck! As far as I am concerned, we didn't need to see any of the white stuff this year. *smirk* Unlikely that would happen, but that is what I call "wishful thinking". Imagine this, just a few days ago we were in the 60's for temps. and we were loving enjoying the mild temps. Today, (Friday-still Friday for me, I have not gone to bed yet) it rained/snowed, a nasty mixed bag all day. Tomorrow (Saturday) more of the same. In fact, the news said a 100 percent chance. Fun, fun! Pretty chilly and windy too :(

I did not have school on Thursday this week and I had a day to myself. I loved every minute of it. I forgot what it was like to have a day to myself. I spent some time in my studio, but not working on anything, I cleaned the mess I had created and not cleaned. Now I have a clean studio again and it makes me happy. I am itching to work on something. Perhaps I will have time to start working on something this weekend, we shall see.

Tomorrow the girls and I are going to have a FUN day out! We are going to the NEW Jo-Ann's. Our Jo-Ann's store closed, and a new one opened just recently, about 20 minutes away. They said it was a bigger space, and this store will carry more variety. We are also going to go to a movie. It should be a fun day, if the weather is okay for traveling.

29 Levels...

Have you ever played the game Jenga? Fun game! The girls and I were playing Jenga the other night, and we finished 29 levels, that is quite a lot of levels....and then, it went crashing down! Lots of laughs and a good time. The guys were deer hunting, (didn't get anything, but my thoughts are, that is okay). The girls and I just spent the weekend at home and I worked on my homework.

I was working on my assignment in for my computer class, Access - Database Management and just finished up with Excel and spreadsheets, a couple of weeks ago. Not my most favorite, but am doing good in that class. I am learning a lot, much more than I ever imagined! I had another test on Friday, it was in my Business Communications class, but more like an English Grammar class and I got an A!!

I was doing the happy dance, because even in High School, English and depicting sentences was always very difficult for me. We take our tests on-line and when you are finished, you hit submit and it tells you your grade immediately. I was just grinning and grinning ear-to-ear.

Today, was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL day! It was in the 60's, calm and just PERFECT! You could not ask for a nicer day, in November, in Minnesota. The sunset was gorgeous and for some reason today, the girls and I seen a rainbow, but there was not any rain. I thought rainbows were normally seen after rain? This weather could last for the rest of year. I don't need snow and cold weather.

I have not had time to create, but I have been studying and spending time with my girls...which is always a good thing. I also worked on the hallway today....a never ending task. I will just keep working on it there and there and eventually get it done. Have a peaceful Sunday night. I must go and finish up some homework. Blessings to you and yours, ~Tonya

Look at those cool stockings! We purchased three sets of them, different colors of course.

And here is Courtney. I thought she looked adorable! You can see her teenage side here...meaning, she is getting older and wants to be a bit different. Yes, she wore this costume to school on Friday and everyone thought it was neat!

And look at those stockings. They didn't make things like that when I was a kid. Just wanted to show you the kiddies. Yes, I am still alive and kicking (screaming all the way). I just get a bit busy and don't always have time to do all of the things I would like. That is okay for now, I am working toward a goal and will have plenty of time later.

A Break??

So today MEA break started! Yeeee haaaww! I needed a break, don't get me wrong...I love school and love to learn, but a break is surely what I needed! My break officially started after school yesterday (that was my thoughts any way). All week long, I stayed after school, daily to get all of my homework done for the week. I wanted to be done with everything, so that I would be able to have a weekend without any homework. But (and that is a an awful BIG but), I thought to myself, we have lived in our home almost 8 years and I have yet to repair, prime and paint our hallway.

This isn't any ordinary hallway mind you. This is one GINORMOUS hallway. One small hallways leads up the stairs, into the stairwell and up to our second floor GINORMOUS hallway. It is a like a large room, within our hallway. I have wanted to paint if for so long, but have been procrastinating because I haven't quite figured out how I am going to become spider man (spider women) and scale the walls above the stairs! I still cringe every time I think about that area. I figure one way or another, I will get it done! I have procrastinated long enough...

This is the question I am asking myself thou...why the heck would I beat feet all week to get my homework done, just to work even harder at getting the plaster walls repaired (most likely three coats of joint compound, sanding in-between each coat and then priming) and painted? I must be a complete fool!

I tell you, I do think I am a fool, but once I am done, I will be a HAPPY FOOL! Is there such a thing as a happy fool? I like to think so.

As of now (mid-semester) straight A's for all 6 of my classes (a couple of straight A's in there actually). I am happy with my grades thus far. If I go down a bit once am I finished with this semester, that is okay. I know that I am doing my best and that is all I can do. After being out of school for 18+ years, I think I am doing pretty good! After all, I am full-time with 16 credits, juggling my life, having three children to tend too and everything else that goes along with it. I do get tired, but more mentally, than physically. But I am happy! And that is all that really matters.

I think I have rambled quite enough. I hope each of you have a pleasant weekend. I know it isn't the weekend, yet. But for me, it is! Toodles for now, ~Tonya

The cooler temps in the evenings here in MN, got me thinking about Christmas (not to mention the dept. stores are already putting Christmas things out), so I thought I would bring a little bit of Christmas Magic to Life....hence, Anna Angel Bunny was born! She is so very pretty. I enjoyed creating her, although there is never enough time in a typical day or week...

I made for Anna Angel a banner that reads BELIEVE, not only during the Christmas Season, but ALWAYS! I know I have received some emails from some of you wonderful gals and I thank you for thinking of me. I am going great and school is going very well for me. I enjoy getting out of the house and learning. I did always enjoy school.

There was a man on a corner today. Standing with cardboard in hand, two bags on the ground and whom appeared to be homeless. The sign said something very similar to this...

I AM HOMELESS

He was unshaven, he looked very sad, yet held his head with pride. My heart swelled with sadness, knowing that there are people that are living a life they had never planned for. People that have fallen into hard times and don't know how to pick themselves back up.

As I approached the busy corner, yes I was curious. I drove up slow to the red-light, so I could read the sign he was holding. I was turning right, so I could stop and then go, if the road was clear. As I approached this man, I was frantically digging in my pockets, I knew I had some money in my pocket and in the first pocket -- no money...

I quickly put my hand in my other pocket and yes! I had found a few bucks. I slowly turned slightly around the corner and pulled to the side a bit. I rolled down my passenger window and yelled out sir, he didn't hear me. Again, I said sir, as I was reaching out my hand and he reached into my van to take the money from my hand. He touched my hand, as he took the money. I told him; it is only a couple dollars, it is all I had in my pocket; he said God Bless You. It almost brought me to tears, knowing that just a few dollars could make a difference to him.

You are probably thinking, why is she telling this story? Well, because each of us need to open up our minds, our hearts and be Thankful for what we do have and not worry about the things we do not have. I told my son this story and started the story like this....There was a Homeless man and he said, how do you know he was homeless? He said, he could have been a person just trying to scam you for money. Perhaps he was a person that didn't want to work and was just asking for a hand-out, I don't know. I was looking for a picture that "fit" my thoughts for this week and came up with this picture. I "borrowed" it from here. I love this picture! I think the "word-age" on this picture is so very true. In the past 3 to 6 months, I have become a more positive person and feel that if you think positive; truly great things will start to change and happen.

In one of my classes, my teacher spoke about negativity in the work place and how others around a negative person, can really be influenced by it. So very true! I feel that positivity should "spill" into your personal and home life as well. If you think positive, you feel better, think clearer and so many things around you start to change. I swear, it is contagious! I enjoy school and I look forward to it each day. Sounds crazy, I am sure.

For the past 4 years, I lived a very sheltered life. I worked at home and about the only reason I would leave my house was to run my children around, go grocery/supply shopping and that was about it. I am in the real world now; every day and did not realize how much I have missed.

I have been creating (a little bit) and I am almost done with a bunny rabbit dollie. I want her theme to be called "Color ME Happy", but am not sure? She is so colorful and just so very sweet! If all goes well, I will have her done today or tomorrow. I will then take pictures and get her listed. Have a wonderful Friday! Darrel and I were married! My how time flies us by. Well, actually it seems longer then that because Darrel and I have been together since 1985. Yup, that is 25 years! Quite a milestone, for this day and age. I could go on and on and say that I married my best friend and so forth, but we all know everyone has their ups and downs, happy and sad moments together. That is what we call a "marriage". Everyone has things in their lives they wish they could change or have done differently, but I can tell you this, we honestly complete each other.

Darrel and I know each other so well, that if he started a sentence or a thought, I could finish it off and vice-versa. If he says....oh, I forgot to grab that.....not to worry, already done. It's the little things in life, if you pay close attention...

It is that certain look, that only you know. It is that certain touch or nudge, when you are in public. It is the little notes, here and there to remind you. Intimidation??

I was...but am taking it one day at a time! I was so nervous to start College on Monday, but now...I don't know why I felt so nervous/scared. I am on my third day of College and ya know what? I forgot how much I loved being "out and about" and interacting with other people. I thoroughly enjoy it! I have missed it for so long, that I almost forgot what "interaction" with others on a daily basis was like. I have met so many nice people already. Most of them thought I was in my late 20's, boy did I have them fooled! I told them I was 37 and they were all in shock! Sure made me feel good *smirk*

I had also forgotten what it was like to get "prettied" up everyday. Most days I would get "ready" and put on "work clothes", that could get "junked-up" while working on my dollies. Now, I get to where jewelry again and feel so much better about myself. I tell ya, I have a whole new outlook on life!

I know this is not going to be a walk in the park, but anyone that knows me, knows that I do love a challenge. I am sure in time, I will get tired of getting up early everyday (as I love to stay up late and be a night owl), but I have been getting to bed at a decent time and taking it day by day and will continue to do so.

I had to lease a laptop for College (required) as all of the programs needed, are on there....I am getting use to that too ;) I am going full-time, with three of the classes on-line. I love the flexibility of the on-line classes, but don't know yet, if I will like them. Seems like more work then Campus courses, since basically you are "teaching yourself". Meaning, you have to be the teacher and the student and be responsible and diligent enough to stay on task. We shall see.

Just wanted to say "hi", summer is almost over and soon my kiddies will be going back so school. It has been a bit of a challenge with me in school already and them being home, but we are all adjusting very well. Toodles for now, ~Tonya

Sweet Grace Bunny turned out so very sweet! Yes, I know I say that quite often. Grace is my most favorite for the year! I have not made a bunny angel this year (I think). I am starting school on Monday and thought I would get one last handmade in, before then and Sweet Grace was it!

Her face is just so innocent, I love that about her. She looks so restful and peaceful. Sweet Grace was inspired by me going to school...a reminder to DREAM...we ALL should!

I am just smitten with that STAR! I love how it turned out and it adds soooo much to this piece. Lots of paper, crepe paper, german glass glitter and lots of patience *smirk* I hope you will go and take a peek, I have listed her on ETSY.

I am happy to say that we have received a much needed reprieve from the heat...so very THANKFUL for that! It actually has been so chilly in the evenings, we must shut the windows. I finished up Miss JOY and I think she has the sweetest face! I really enjoyed working on a little bit of Christmas. This heat has me thinking of a little bit "cooler" time of the year, hence Miss JOY was brought to Life! I don't know how much time I will have to create Winter/Christmas handmades with going back to school! Yes, going back to school, I start on Aug. 23rd, just around the corner...

Miss JOY has tons of detail. I have trimmer her in gold, which does not happen often. She has a little star sprig that I made for her, along with her JOY banner and look at that neckline...

This picture is a little "foggy", due to the high humidity. Once I walked outside to take the pictures, from the camera being in air-conditioning, this is what happened. My Latest Obsession!

Making Jewelry! Yup....seems I have to try everything and every-now-and-then "dabble" in something NEW. I have learned lots and even made some floating necklaces! Imagine that *smirk* In person, they look so much prettier and what I like best, is that I can make them just for me and no one else will have another set like it. They look so pretty on and especially when I put my hair up...

Here is a full picture of the set. I really enjoy making jewelry and it is something that doesn't take hours upon hours, so in some sense - there is some "instant" gratification. I love wearing jewelry and up until now, I really didn't have anywhere to where it too. I recently got a my hair trimmed, got some highlights and have pretty nails too! Imagine that! My hands use to look awful, from all the stain I had them in for my prim dollies...I now where gloves! Also got myself a new pair of glasses (they aren't quite done yet)...

I am happy to say I am working on a NEW dollie. I hope to have her done tomorrow....yes, a Bunny dollie and so far, she is just soooo very sweet! I just thought I would share a little tid-bit with you. I hope all is going well for each of you. Duluth Getaway -

We went to Duluth (the kids and I, along with my sister, her family and my Mom & Stepfather). I picked out some pictures, that were the "highlight" of our time there, in Duluth. There is such beauty there...Lake Superior is breathtaking!

The first day we arrived, we were going to go the the beach. We had to cross the bridge to get there...but the bridge was going up...tons of people and they were actually exiting there vehicles while waiting. We thought, why not? We did and we were able to see the Tall Ships arriving! It was awesome! To see those Tall Ships coming in, was like nothing else. All the pictures were taken by my phone and unedited...

Aren't they just BEAUTIFUL! I think it was the first boat, pictured above was on "Pirates of the Caribbean". They told us, but I cannot remember. There were quite a few and while we were there, we actually seen 8 of them sail in. It is describable...

A lighthouse at the end of the pier. You can see Courtney in this picture. The first day it was full of sun, while we walked along the beach and so forth and this day however, was totally different. Full of haze, pretty chilly, rained off and on and pretty windy.

Here is another lighthouse that was there. We watched a very large barge come in, full of limestone. They actually talked about the barge and the length of that barge was unforgettable! Watching it go by us while on the pier and see the crew waving...pretty neat! They had been out for a very long time. That barge only goes a max. speed of 16 mph. Imagine that!

Here was my first vision of Lake Superior, on foot - our first day as we walked over the bridge to the beach....awwww, BEAUTIFUL! It was so blue and it went for as far as the eye could see.

Tracks and a stone wall, that I thought was pretty. We went on a scenic train ride of the North Shore. It was so pretty. My kids and I had never been on a train. We enjoyed that too...

The bridge that opens for the boats. We got stuck on the other side for about an hour and a half, the first day. A little frustrating, but to be expected. Going across the bridge and looking over, so pretty.

One of the fountains in the downtown area. I had to snap a picture. So many things to look at and so much beauty.

Jordan and Ron along the beach the first day. We had just arrived and were waiting for the cabin, so we went to the beach. Such clear water and walking along Lake Superior on a beautiful day, there is nothing like it...look at that smile. We found such pretty rocks along the shore.

My Mom and Ron here. This is the bridge we crossed to get to the beach, it was near the airport. While walking through the sand to get to the beach, it was pretty hot on the ol' feet! We had FUN! Made some wonderful memories that will certainly last a lifetime! Tomorrow is my birthday...another year older...another year wiser! Hope you all have been having a FUN summer! Blessings, ~Tonya

Yup, another bunny! I love making these bunnies! At times, they sure beat making lips on dollies *smirk* I think lips have always been my "quirk" for making dollies. At times, they can go so smooth and other times, they fight me "tooth & nail"...

This is Miss Abby-Rose! She is so very sweet with her WISH Banner. She holds a star in her hand, as a little reminder to make a WISH, because after all, they do come true. Abby-Rose is listed in My Etsy Shoppe.

Look at those darling shoes! I love them to pieces. They are complete with glass glittered stars and ribbon...and a lil sparkle in the center of the star. I had cut all the trim and stitched it in place. Lots & lots of detail in this sweetie-pie.

On to a weather report, cuz I know you just love that! We had a massive thunder/lighting storm rip through here last night. Lots of twigs laying around. They are such a joy to pick up. LOL Now it is very HUMID out. It is just nasty, when you walk outside...that is why I am staying in doors, with the AIR ON! The only way to be. Summer here is just flying by. We have already done some back to school shopping...yes, we start early so that things don't get picked over. I thought I would share with you, my latest handmade! I was working on a Witch dollie this weekend and on Monday, but she was fighting me "tooth & nail", so I set her aside, hence another Bunny was born! I must say, I love making my bunny bunnies. No lip stitching to fight with and no sculpted noses. *smirk* Maybe I am just enjoying making bunnies too much?? I am not sure. This bunny is just the sweetest and is loaded with so much detail...

The picture here, has a little bit of a "haze" to it. I think because of the humidity level here, when I went outside to take the pictures, the inside or outside of the camera go hit with moisture? The other pictures show the detail too...so, I think it is okay. Miss BOO has a lil clay buddy with her, called Sir Skelly. And I made for her a BOO Banner with Real German Glass glitter, so very pretty!

I have listed her in my ETSY SHOPPE. I hope all is going well for each of you. I don't get much time to visit, so sorry. ~Halloween Queen - Bella Bunny~

WOW - Where does the time go? I have 3 projects that I am working on at that same time (not normal for me), and have been dragging my feet a bit...getting lost in the details again. I had so much fun making Miss Bella Bunny, you have not idea. I love it when...you create something and when you look at the finished dollie, they make you smile ;)

Miss Bella Bunny is complete with so much hand stitched detail, sparkle and a little clay Jack-O Pumpkin that it did take a while. I made some different eyes on this lil sweetie and added some shimmer to her eyelids! No Queen is complete without her crown!

Miss Bella Bunny is one of my larger dollies. She is so sweet! I am getting into the Halloween spirit, because when August or Sept. start to roll around, I start making Autumn and Winter things and of course the kiddies are getting back to school...so who knows how much Halloween goodies I will get done then...

I am sure you have seen them on TV, but thought to yourself....would those work? Yes, they do!! They are such an awesome little invention and don't know what I did without them! Ya know if you have long hair and you have a pony-tail or need a band so tight, to make your hair stay put...they tend to make your head hurt or even give you head-aches, well not these little babies!

Love them and got my set a couple of days ago. We are having pretty hot weather here in MN and I have been using my Spin Pin's everyday. Fabric can be so very inspiring! I purchased a few different fabrics and have been so inspired from them. I use to make things a little more distressed, but with such pretty fabrics and prints, I do not have the heart to dirty them up...thus, making my more whimsical side coming out. I love Miss Blooming Betsy. I have used glass eyes on her and that look, in person is just so very neat. Those eyes look like they have SOUL!

~Miss Raven Hollow~

This is the little dollie that I was working on last week, but never found the time to finish her. We have been so busy...but I finally went into the studio last night and got to work! I was up way late...but ~Miss Raven Hollow~ is soooo worth it. I think she turned out a little Sweet, a little Spooky and a little bit sad. How can you have all of those characteristics in one dollie? She is an everyday little Spook. I love these little dollies on the wood bases!

Miss Raven Hollow will be listed on Ebay this evening. She will list for 5 days and end on Monday evening. She has a little furry friend, that she takes with her - everywhere she goes...

Miss Raven Hollow has such a pretty up-do, with some fallen strands for sweetness. I have given her a pretty paper rose, dipped in black glitter for her hair. Raven has an antique rhinestone button, sewn in place on her high empire waistline. I don't have many of those buttons left and find it very difficult to use those ;) I have finished off her sleeves, dress, pantalets, and shoes with black metallic trim. I also hand stitched some vintage looking lace on her dress. Her neckline has oodles of lace on to achieve that look...so much fun in the details!

I have some new handmades in the works, but slow going. I thought about posting more pictures from the tornado hitting our area, but I am not. I don't think people need to see any more reminders of that destruction. People just want to move forward. Other then my kiddies keeping me busy and trying to stay cool, nothing much else going on. DEVASTATION!!

This is only one picture of just part of the devastation, that hit our area, yesterday June 17, 2010. It started around 6:30 pm, on Thursday evening. I was trying to put more photos on here, but my internet is in and out...and is damaged. The tornado that leveled this building site, was hovering over our house and went straight north (about a mile away) and hit my son's friends house. This is not his house, but another in the area. His friend's house is a total loss.

My husband was out with the County Sheriff, Fire Dept./First Responders and Storm spotters and watched the tornado hovering around/over our house and watched it hit the other houses. The damage that this tornado caused is UNBELIEVABLE. It makes you want to cry. So many have lost their homes/business and there was at least one death (I have heard 3, but only one has been released at this time, so I am not sure). There were quite a few hurt as well.

**Here is the video I was talking about from the Fire Dept. - that is our house in the distance, in the video and then the tornado moves north. When it turns black and dark at the "cone-shaped" base, that is when it took out Jordan's friends' house ;(

I wanted to include links to video footage of the tornado, but can not really browse with my internet the way it is, I tried. We watched the news and seen footage of the tornado with our house in it...we were VERY LUCKY. I will try to add a video or links, when our internet is fixed. You can google it or look for videos on youtube. They are there. Google Hollandale, MN Tornado June 17, 2001. You will not believe how massive that tornado was. This evening we went to look at the damage, it is so very heart-wrenching. I do not even have the words to describe it. They have set up a shelter with the Red Cross, the military were here, electric crews working around the clock - so many are still without power and the list goes on and on.

I am so Thankful, but feel so very bad for the families that have been affected by this Tornado and storm. There are farms hit where everything was leveled. A year to the day, another Tornado ripped through this area (and surrounding) as well. I just thought I would share what has been going on around here. My heart is heavy today...

Hello to YOU! Seems like time is just flying by and I do not get in much time to blog....Summer Time, Fun Time! The kiddies keep me busy, but I am still creating, just takes me a bit longer. I have just finished this Sweet lil gal and she is listed in my Etsy! Love the fabric I used...just had to pick up some new whimsical fabric and could not wait to use it!

Sweet Ellie is her name and she just wants to feel FREE! She wants to FLY like the butterflies and she has her arms wide OPEN and wondering why she can not fly. I know I would love to fly at times...close your eyes and let the wind blow upon your face. You can go there with your mind - if you believe. She has lots and lots of hand stitching on her and look at all that trim!

I finished up this little sweetie today....her name is Suzie! I have her listed on Ebay, for 5 days and she will end on Sunday evening. I have her listed with a Buy it Now option and I think it will disappear if someone bids on her? That is, if I did it right. LOL

I am really loving these dollies on these little stands. I love the size of them and lately I have been into making bunnies and Halloween Dollies and having just so much FUN!!

Oh I love this lil Hunny Bea Bunny! She has oodles & oodles of detail and hand stitching on her. I use to load my dollies up with lots of detail, but slipped away from that, on account of it being so time consuming. From time to time, you will see a highly detailed creation from me, but not many...well this Sweet Bea has it all!

I have another one in the works, but a Whimsical Witch, that will also be on a stand. Love how they are on lil stands. They stand so PROUD and look so very SWEET! I have this Sweet Hunny Bea Bunny listed on Etsy...she is more expensive compared to some of my other handmades, due to all of the time invested in her details. She has a petal - neckline all hand stitched, and metallic trim around that. Her dress is full of sweet flowers...

With lil button centers. She has hand sewn ric-rac and then another trim to showcase the ric-rac and teeny ric-rac hand sewn on around the pants and more hand sewn trim around her shoes with stitched on buttons. Hand painted base and it goes on and on. I even made a neat, removable flower by her ear. It is held in place with decorative matching pins...

Happy Friday to each of you!! First off, I do hope that you enjoy your Holiday Weekend - Be safe and let's not forget the real reason for Memorial Day. Speaking of Memorial Day - reminds me of the RED, WHITE and BLUE and I just had to make up a lil bit of that! Gotta love the Bunny-bunny. I have had these on my desk for over a week...just waiting to be finished up.

I finally got them finished up and I have not made any Stockings from My Primitive Stocking Collection for almost 4 years! Wow, how time flies.

This lil sweetie was asking to be a make-do and I love the pink and black together! Just so neat and I love dots. I had fun coordination things to go with the dots...you can't tell can you?

And I had to throw in a lil bit of Halloween! Love the fabric I used for the stocking and the collar. In person they are all so pretty and the sun was just BLARING down...so the pictures were difficult to take. I think they look okay, considering. All 3 are heading over to my Etsy Shoppe. I just have to get them listed.

Aren't they so SWEET! I love them and am so happy with the way they turned out. Each one has so much detail and personality! They are attached to little wooden trinket boxes...

I have listed them in my Etsy Shoppe. These are just the heads, pulled off the top of the little trinket box...

I hand painted each wooden box to match the fabric and such. Each have a ruffle collar and I made each of them a wool felt hat and then added pretties of course...

Isn't she so shabby! So sweet. I love the pinks that I used for her. I normally do not leave things so "white", but for this sweet bunny, it turned out so very neat and just what she needed...

I just had to make a Halloween one! I made the stripes on the trinket look a bit torn, I did that with painters tape. It turned out very neat and I LOVE that hat and I added tinsel glitter to the center of that ribbon rosette! So much fun to work with. They are listed in my Etsy Shoppe, I do hope that you will go and take a peek.

I was the LUCKY WINNER of Michelle Palmer's Giveaway! Michelle hand sketches with ink onto fabric, vintage linens, baby dress, feed sacks and so much more! The sketches are so beautiful in pictures, but you should see them up close, they are absolutely amazing! The pictures posted here are Michelle's, I did not take my birdie out of the package yet...I want to be able to put it in a frame and under glass, so it is protected.

Look at all of those eggs, each one hand sketched. I love "winged" things....birdies, butterflies, fairies and angels. Thank you so much Michelle, I absolutely love my birdie vintage birdie sketch. Michelle has an Etsy shoppe (the link is on her blog) and updates quite frequently, so much more then just birdies that she sketches. You just never know what she will sketch next.

Boy, I am a BAD BLOGGER lately! I suppose it is because I do not have much to say. Not much going on and school for my kiddies is winding down. They of course updated me today, only 14 more days of school left. Boy oh boy, how time sure flies. I have been working, but very slowly I might add. Just too many distractions. I would think by now I would be use to distractions.

It was such beautiful weather here yesterday and today is another beautiful day...and it is suppose to continue all week. It is so appreciated after all of the gloomy weather and rain we had last week. I may have some lil wooden trinket boxes to show you later today, depends if everything goes smoothly. This was a little ~Sneak Peek~ picture that I set out with an email update. I thought it was so cute, with Bethany's little eyelashes. I have been playing in clay (as you might have noticed)! I made 3 dollies, one the pretty witch listed on ebay, this sweet bunny and one more in the works. With clay, I have found if you sculpt more then one at once, you don't become so annoyed, with the drying time...

I have listed Bethany Bloom on Etsy. I know some people do not like to wait for auctions, I am one of them! *smirk* I have even given Bethany Bloom some sculpted bunny-rabbit feet! Here tag and flowers are so neat, as is her bodice...

On the BLOOM tag, lots of detail...what is it with me and highly detailed tags this week? Having fun and getting lost in the moment, I guess. I love playing with paper and am learning more and more techniques all the time! I have added shimmer mist to the flowers and the tag. It is hard to capture in pictures, but in person - BEAUTIFUL!

Here are the flowers that go with Bethany. I made 5 of them, but made one into a flower, with a stem and wired it to Bethany's hand/arm. I used a Tim Holtz Tattered Flower die and I must say I think that die is my FAVORITE flower die EVER! I love how they are not your typical "cookie-cutter" looking flower.

Today it is a bit nippy out! We are suppose to get down into the 30's on the overnight tomorrow and possibly some SNOW ---------WHAT???? IN MAY!! I hope not! I was ready for some nicer weather and have only seen tulips bloom so far. The birdies are going to be freezing their lil feathers off. I hope it warms up. Just think, it was 78 degrees here on Tuesday....sheer craziness! Only in MN can it feel like Spring, Summer and Winter all in one week! Toodles for now, ~Tonya

Not really, but I thought it was a "catchy" title! I have been playing with clay and finally finished up a dollie! I am very pleased with the way that she turned out. I had to "shake" things up a bit. I love to dabble in so many "mediums" that is hard to decide what to play in!

This is ~Sweet Sabrina - Witch in Training~ she is a bit of an "Elegant" witch, is there such a thing? I suppose there can be, remember the Witch of the East on The Wizard of Oz? She was quite a beautiful Witch...well, Sabrina wants to just be a beautiful lil Witch. I have tons of detail in her. She will make her debut this evening on ebay. She will be listed on ebay then and end on Sunday evening.

For those of you that follow my work, know that I have never offered a clay-faced dollie before...not a full dollie. I have made lil things to go with my cloth dollies, but that is it.

And look at the highly detailed hang tag that I made! Love it! It took so long to do, but I think is so very worth it! Lots of layers and layers and truly a OOAK, both the tag and the doll! I must get moving, I have lots to so and the day is slipping by.

It has been windy, windy here today! Not much has been going on here, I know I have been quiet, but I have been creating, just tooooo many things at once. Oh and I did re-list my Springtime dollie on ebay, she will end on Sunday evening too. No Reserve on here. Poor lil dollie...in person, she is so very sweet and I do hope that she will be adopted. In the beginning, when I first started Sweet Abigail - she was made with Mother's Day in mind...but after creating her, I put hearts with her and then made the "You are Loved" banner. Then I thought to myself, not everyone is a Mom, but we are ALL Loved. I feel, knowing that you are "Loved" is so very important....hence, Sweet Abigail was brought to life, to let you know that you are LOVED!

I had lots of fun making Sweet Abigail and you know me, I love all of the detail in dollies. Sweet Abigail Bunny is already scheduled to list this evening on ebay and will be listed for 5 days, to end on Sunday evening...

Happy Friday! My title is "Imagine that", well because it is hard to Imagine that Pigs can Fly! Also, a few other things to tell you about thou....Penny Piggy is listed on ebay, for 5 days and will end on Tuesday evening. Here is another "Imagine that"...yesterday, I was out picking up more sticks and taking some gravel out of the grass, from the sides of the driveway (don't want them to wreck the blades on the lawn mower ya know) from plowing during the winter...FUN, FUN!

Jordan came up to me and said there are a couple of piles of gravel way back by the shed. I went and took a look, YUP - more gravel to pick up! I was on my knees picking up gravel, from the grass, from our snow plow person that shoved our snow waaaaaaay back there! Crazy! Imagine that. *smirk* One more thing to let you know about...

When PIGS Fly!

For those of you that stop by my blog frequently, this is what I was working on and this is Penny! Lil Penny Piggy...She is just the sweetest and I never really liked pigs, well not adore anyways...but this one, I adore *smirk* Hubby helped me with the base...so nice of him!

A little bit farther away. I made the hanging tag on it from grungeboard, love that stuff. I also crackled it...it looks so aged. You can't really see it, but it says "When PIGS Fly". We have all said it and well, why can't pigs fly. You just have to use a little bit of IMAGINATION and ANYTHING is POSSIBLE! I will be listing Penny Piggy in Ebay tomorrow evening. I didn't get the best pictures and they will have to wait until tomorrow.

I have already started on another new handmade...boy, I must be on a roll. Mark it down!! Did some yard work yesterday and today we all stopped by Dairy Queen, YUM! Stopped in for a BLIZZARD. They are on SALE thru the 25th. They are Celebrating 25 flavors - 25 years...if you purchase one, you get the second one for 25 cents. You simply can not beat that! Today was a perfect day for it too. The weather here in Mn, has been ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!

I received my vinyl letters today and I had to adhere them right away (of course)!! This is how they look and I LOVE IT!! I am so glad that I thought of this, I suppose I could have cut the letters out and stenciled them, but that would not have looked as "sleek" as it does now...

I think you should be able to "click" on this picture and enlarge it to see the whole thing better. When I reduce them in size, sometimes they get a bit "grainy". I know monitors differ in color, the phrase that I put up is a "rich" brown (not black) and the lighting at times, show darker/lighter - depends on the light. The hand-painted "torn" looking edge it a chocolate brown, so they go pretty well together. From whatever chair I am working in, I can see this and it makes me smile....Because life is really a JOURNEY and it is not a Destination...

Here is the last part of my "Word-age"...see the little "Monkey-Cat" studio ~Skelly~ by Laurie, peeking out in the corner? I love him and glad I got him - So glad I was able to get one of Laurie's sculptures. Today is a bit chilly, but the SUN is SHINING....so I will take it. I think we can officially say "Spring has Sprung" in our area! I am loving it! Yesterday our tulips finally opened - at least a couple of them. This was our sunset yesterday evening, trust me it was more gorgeous in person. Before I could grab the camera and take a decent picture, it had gone down quite a ways. I can not believe how fast the sun goes down, where you are watching it.

I have been working on a lil critter, that I think I am going to call "Penny". Do you know what kind of critter? Any guesses (Pea - be quiet) *smirk* It will take me a bit, I need hubby to make something for me, I should say for "Penny". Maybe I can bribe him --- we shall see. Ninny has a friend over today, she is staying overnight. Courtney is staying at a friend's house....have one less kid and then you gain one. Go figure :) That's okay, the girls are having so much fun!

How was your Friday. Mine was a little of this and a little of that and it suited me just fine. I got my "Word Art" ordered for my wall in my studio and it should be here tomorrow or Monday...can't wait and I hope it looks just as neat up on my wall, as I had envisioned. ADORABLE!!

I took this picture yesterday. I walked into the living room and found them "cat-napping" the day away. To see my kitties like this, is just so sweet...to know where they have been and how "wild" King & Boo were and how far they have come. Just think, the vet said that King (the big white and orange Tom Cat) adapting to us and being such a great house-cat was not normal. He was 2 - 3 years old, when we found him and so wild. He is just the sweetest!

Boo, the little calico female...she is another story. *smirk* She loves me, but is still very shy and runs quite a bit from most others. If it is a one on one with the others, they can pet her (some times), but for the most part, she won't have anything to do with them, but hubby. She loves it here. She probably knows that she was only suppose to be here for a while, while housing her for the Humane Society - and if she was sweet to all, she would be adoptable and have to go and live elsewhere. Go figure, she probably understands.

Ooh-La-La!!

What I have been up too! Lots of stuff, but not creating dolls!! I have always loved the color "Robin's Egg Blue" and knew that someday I wanted to have that color in my studio. That color of blue goes hand-in-hand with a chocolate brown (which I love), but brown is just too dark for a work space (in my eyes) so I left the walls the existing base color (a creamy taupe-ish color) and threw in some chocolate accents. I love the valances I made...and that chunky wide ric-rac that I love....I just had to have that in there too!!

If you all remember, this was Jordan's bedroom....he had a border with fish on it and the wall with stripes on it, that was an accent wall that I had "rag-rolled" on and then antiqued it. Well, that being a main wall, I had to accent it with the pretty stripes. I did not want to ruin the existing base coat and really did not want to take down the border (being a bit lazy I think...but I think I created more work for myself this way) and I have heard that you can paint them, if you prep them first. So, that is what I did! I painted them and added a torn edge effect and am not quite done with them yet...but wanted to show my progress. Here are the pics, in order if you are standing in the center of my studio and turn clock-wise. I still have to add some creative things to the border...but am LOVING it so far!!

Lots of table space. How long do you think it will stay clean? Not long. I plan to work in there today, but wanted to show you these pictures, before the mess! Could not live without those two stands that are by my chair, with all those drawers. Love them! Oh and the chairs, Jordan and I re-covered them a couple of weeks ago...crushed corduroy - sooo neat and love how they look!

My most FAVORITE wall and would love to do the whole room in stripes, but that is a lot of work, lots of painters tape (which is not cheap) and LOTS of patience! *smirk* I would love to contact someone that has the machine to cut large vinyl letters and have a witty saying on that border area...ya just never know what I may come up with! Those pictures above are Gritty Jane prints. Love her work, but would never be able to afford an original, so the prints are the next best thing for me. I may end up painting those frames chocolate brown...the black is bothering me a bit...

Gotta love the cubby-hole thinga-ma-bobs! Everything in it's place! You can see everything and find everything. Just think, the one I purchased is the tan one and that was suppose to be for wine bottles - but I thought outside the box! The white one, was a freebie along a road, that someone was throwing away and it said FREE. On top of the white one, lots of glass jars and eye-candy up there!

See this area? This is the area that is not done yet! I have to move the stands and paint the border and such yet. I figured that would be a good project in a couple of weeks. I have an itch to create and I have to feed that itch!! The picture of the window at the beginning of this post...that window is right before this picture. I just didn't take a full picture of the window and the partial plastic stand way to the left. All you missed was a window...just trying to keep this in order for a visual aide :)

Most of my fabrics (which is way too much)! This is my little Halloween area - a top of this stand. I just didn't have the heart to put these things away...along with my Skelly from Laurie on my cubby-hole stand (on my table). He had to be protected, so he does not fall. He is a tall fellow!

And the last picture...back at the door. I hope you enjoyed my little tour. It really is a very nice space, I think it is 13x13 or something close to that. Love my space now...so funky, cheery and inviting! Makes me smile every time!

With SPRING-TIME just around the corner....I thought this gal should be called ~Springtime Suzie~ She is full of FUN and is just adorable!! She is one of my larger dollies and I really enjoyed bringing Suzie to life...

The doll stand that you see here, will be sold with her. I finished the base of the stand off with wool felt that matches. Springtime Suzie is listed on Ebay and will end on Sunday Evening...

The SWEET accessories were so fun to create! I made paper flower type pretties for her hat. Suzie's hat is removable, as is her lil basket. I finished off the lil basket with matching fabric and "sugar-coated" it for sweetness! I added some matching crimp paper and a pretty butterfly - that can be removed as well.

Things have really been melting around here and it has also been raining....which means lots of MUD! My kitty-cats are getting spring fever and I can not wait to throw the windows open and let some of that fresh air in...but we have to wait for a bit yet. I hope you all have a wonderful day. Happy Birthday to My Dear Hubby! He had to work until 6 a.m. this morning, but we will be Celebrating later today. I bought a YUMMY Dairy Queen Extreme Chocolate Crunch Cake for him (that he does not know about yet) and we will probably go out for dinner as well. Good Conversation, Good Eats, Yummy DQ Cake, and a Family that loves him...what more could he ask for?

Today is bright, but I really can't see any sun. A bit of a breeze, to help dry the melting snow. And still pretty mild temps out....Spring is on the way! Seven Pounds...

I am talking about the movie, with Will Smith. Have you ever seen it? If you have not, I urge you too...you must watch it. It does start out a bit slow and at times, all the while you will try to "fit" the pieces together. Do not go and look up to see what the movie is about in full length detail, you will only ruin it for yourself....

Here is a small summary of the movie - Haunted by a secret, Ben Thomas looks for redemption by radically transforming the lives of seven people he doesn't know. Once his plan is set, nothing will be able to stop him. At least that's what he thinks. But Ben hadn't planned on falling in love with one of these people and she's the one who will end up transforming him.

That is all you need to know before watching the movie. I knew less...and the less you know, the better. I did figure out the movie, when it was not quite half way through, but immensely enjoyed the movie. I feel everyone should watch this movie. The last 30 minutes will really "clue" you in and then all the pieces begin to make sense. What a selfless act he did, but at the same time...well, go watch it - to see what you think!

I have been really busy and FINALLY completed something to sell! Sweet Bunny-Bunnies just for SPRING ---- but really, they can be kept out all year through! I am very pleased with the way that these two sweetie-pies turned out. I have them listed on Etsy. If there is no action over there with in a couple of days, I will move them to ebay. So, if you are interested in them, hop on over to my Etsy Shoppe...

They are smaller bunnies and just so stinking cute! I had a lot of fun with these and I hope that you like them. I am going to try to offer smaller items most of them time....because times are tough for everyone....let's just hope that things start to turn around in this economy...

It is so funny, when I first finished up the pink dot one, she was my favorite, then I was finishing up the blue dot one and she became my favorite....let's just say, I can not really decide *smirk*

I think the black & pink are so striking together. Full crepe paper collars with glass glitter all the way around on all the edges. It took a while to do, but so worth it!

Something FUN!!

Something FUN for ME! Yes, I know Halloween - but it is my FAVORITE time of year for creating! I received some really neat note cards from Pea last year (Thank you Pea!). Well, I knew that they were too SWEET to use and I didn't want to just have them sit out, for fear they may get ruined or bent...so, I thought I would frame them up! The note cards were an odd size, so I mounted them to some paper, that I coordinated with the cards, added some rub-on's, & some glitter and here they are....

Aren't they just the SWEETEST!! Thank you Pea. I told you I would would do something with them. I will probably keep them in my studio for a while...and then put them with my All Hallow's Eve Goodies. The cards are from original art from "Meg of the Magpie". I did find her blog, but she is no longer updating and such...Meg did/does Beautiful work! If I had to pick a favorite, it is this one, with the dots! I am a DOT GIRL...

So very neat! I love them even more now. Today is another gorgeous day out...mild temps and there is some melting going on, Whoot - Whoot! March came in like a lamb, but we can just forget about it going out like a lion, can't we? HA! I plan on getting something done in my studio this week, some new creating? A Wish...

This is one of my latest "Paper Pretties", just love playing with paper!! A Wish? I woke up to laughter this morning along with Courtney making homemade Chocolate Chip pancakes! Then to top it all off, she even rubbed my feet with lotion and massaged them! What a sweetheart. Ya know, my kids may make me frustrated some times, but they sure are great kids! What more could I ask for today...I asked Courtney why? She said, Just Because! Sweet *smirk*

Lots of layers to this card and of course Spellbinder die cuts, lots of shading, stamping, pastels, water color pencils, gems, inks, stickles, ribbon and I even glass glittered the stars with real German glass glitter, so they will tarnish over time, for that time worn look...

oh and I also used Tim Holtz distressed ink (of course) and I was LUCKY enough to purchase the NEW BOOK from T!m! A signed copy of "A Compendium of Curiosities" and with a Limited Edition apron of his most frequently used words! How neat is that? Can't wait to get it and page my fingers through that book. Now maybe I can dress like a normal person and just use the apron...we shall see.

Lots of dimension to this card. I may have to keep this card and put it in a little frame, in my studio....to ALWAYS remind myself to WISH and well...to DREAM! We all have to have a few of those... I am going to be added a splash of color to my studio in the next month or so. I am also going to make new valances and I purchased some prints from Jane Desrosier a while back and I finally got them framed in some basic black frames and boy do they POP, with those frames. I can't wait to get those hung up in my studio as well...

And here is my Sweet Ninny (Sydney) at her BFF Birthday Party last Saturday. We bought a present for Brenda, wrapped it all up pretty, made her a pretty butterfly card together -- of course with butterflies, glitter and gems and then Ninny made Brenda (and herself) a pretty paper crown! Well, I didn't make the Spellbinder's Design Team, but I did have fun trying! I know if I would have been one of the "chosen ones", that I am scared to death of flying! The last time I flew, was many years ago and there was sooo much turbulence, that I thought the plane was going down! I am sure it ALL would have been worth it! To meet new people and the workshops....and CHOCOLATE! HA! A BIG Congratulations to all of the gals that made the DT!!

I thought I would show you the final challenge piece I submitted. We had to use the inverted circle die and also the filmstrip die. We had to use at least one of each. I used several. This was my second layout I started. The first one was totally different, more rustic, more artsy and a bit vintage...maybe I should have gone with that one? One will never know...

It was an honor, to even have been chosen to be a finalist...that is something in it's self! It would have been wonderful to make the Design Team, but it just wasn't in the cards and was not meant to be. I can always try again next year...ya just never know...

One of the hardest things about trying out and being a finalist for Spellbinders, was sending this beautiful layout of my girls. No, I will not get it back and I did even get teary-eyed while packing it up. I put so much love and time in this layout...

A layout like this could never be put into a book, but to be framed and put on a wall. It would be gorgeous. Maybe I will make another one and have a shadow box made for it...my hubby could make me the box, he is awesome with wood...

I really loved how these flowers turned out. So much dimension and detail. I added Robin's Egg Dew Drops to the top of the flower...

And this is where I used the film strip die...I tried many other ways for this layout (with the film strip die), but with the very elegant style, the film strip just would not work any other way. So, I became inventive! HA! There is always more ways to look at things, then just one...

What I have been up too...

Thought I would show you a Birthday card I made for my sister. I love playing with paper. Pretty glitter in the center....love all things that glitter too!

A bit of a close-up. Lots of layers to that flower. And what I have been up too.....Lots and lots of cleaning and organizing! Going through things I have wanted to for so long, getting rid of a lot of stuff that - I JUST DO NOT NEED! Feels so GOOD too!!

I have shelves in my basement, like what you see in stores (gondola units) and quite a few of them I might add....well, most of them are now empty! Yeee haaawww! We are removing the shelves and not having them in the basement....you know the old saying, the more storage you have, the more you tend to collect/have.

I am "weeding out" and don't want to be a "keeper" anymore. I am starting to do things for me! Things that make me feel good...on the inside and out. It's about time too ;) So often I do so many things for others and I tend to forget about ME. I have been a bit slow in the creating dept. which is fine, at the moment. This time of the year is normally used for lots of "reflecting" and lots of "thoughts".

Meet Ahanna & Gracie, they will be on ebay this evening. Ahanna has glass eyes, which are so very neat...but are very hard to photograph. In person, they are so much more sweet. I had to take the pictures inside, because of all of the snow and cold temps.

Sweet Ahanna has so much detail to her. I love the color combination (browns & pinks), that I decided to use. Sweet Ahanna & Gracie are just waiting patiently for SPRING to arrive!

This lil bunny is my favorite, I think. I love making lil critters to go along with my dollies...they just take so much thought and time to create. A Beautiful Day!

It was such a beautiful day out today...the sun was shining and even though it was a bit "brisk", it was calm, no snow and after all, the sun was shining! I just had to go out and enjoy the day a bit. I took this picture, while the sun was peering through our trees....what do you see? I only added the border to this picture, nothing else and I see little spots, that look like little prisms or something. I would like to think that in our wooded area, may be there are "little sprites" (fairies) dancing around. Maybe? A small being, yet being in human form, playful and having magical powers...you just never know...you always must let your imagination play...

Over the past couple of years while being on-line, I have always been asked, where do you live? Are there hills, flat land, what? So, here is a picture of part our back yard...and yes, flat, very flat land in my area. I love this picture and how the trees stand so proud...if you listen, trees talk to you....yes, even during the winter. The sun played off the trees and created beautiful shadows...

And this is in the front of our home. Our home is virtually in the middle of a field. We have a very long driveway and field all the way around us. We have somewhat more of a "wooded" area, on the north side of our property. I didn't get a picture taken of that. During the more mild months, you can see so much nature, hear so many birds and see so much beauty. I love living here...although the winters can be pretty brutal. We have lived here for almost 7 years and in that time, this winter is the one that has been the worst...

This is our long driveway. I was standing at the end of our sidewalk, from our home...yes, a long sidewalk too. Some have asked about living in the country and why do we live here....well, there is just something about living in the country that you can not put into words. Yes, there is more work - to living in the country, a longer drive - to and from town, but out here - when all is quiet and it is just you, with the sun on your face and a slight breeze, listening to the birds singing....well, there is nothing quite like it. I think I need to "pinch myself".....I am on a roll folks! I thought I would share my good fortune (Lucky Streak)! A couple of weeks ago, Jackie of Fat Jak Originals, was having a giveaway "Spreading the L♥VE", she called it ;) I was the LUCKY one that WON! I received that SWEET lil Girl today and she is too ADORABLE!! You should go and visit Jackie's blog, she has such a way with her creations! Thank you so much, Jackie!! I will always treasure her and think of you when I look at her!

And today, I received an email from Justine at "CARDiology" ~ Cards from the Heart by Justine and she told me I was the WINNER of her Blog Giveaway for her 2nd Blogoversary! I have been staying quite busy around here, not getting much done......but that is how things go some times. We had a nice Valentine's Day...we went out to eat Saturday evening and then on Sunday, I was greeted with lots of handmade cards and such. Even hubby made me a card ;) I hope all of you had a wonderful Valentine's Day with lots of L♥VE!!

I have a special order that I am finishing up and I am also working on a dollie. See, lots of "Coals in the Fire"! I also submitted my Spellbinders Challenge piece for the Finals. I figure if I win, I win (which would be great) and if I don't win...then I know it was not meant to be and I know that I put my best foot forward.

Revived!

Yes, revived by a hair-cut! That isn't me in the picture, but I normally always post with a picture, odd I know. Our taxes are finished and so glad to have that behind us. I just really do not like that time of the year.....too much paper work. You would think I would learn to do my paper work every month. Someday I will learn! *smirk* Probably not any time soon thou. I am always a glutton for punishment.

Little Miss Ninny had the flu...it started Wednesday evening and went into Thursday too. Poor little girl. I hope it is gone for good and the rest of us do not get it! She feels much better today.
Just wanted to pop in and say HI. I received my Spellbinders dies today, for the Final layout Challenge. I have been thinking of what I am going to do with my layout, but nothing really set in stone...the ol' wheels are turning in my head thou!

Spellbinders had a Call-Out for a New Design Team for 2010, it was at the tail end of last year. I thought about it long an hard. I thought it would be neat to try-out for the design team. I made my card, my altered art project, a 12x12 layout and a 500 word essay about Me....and then submitted them. I didn't tell anyone, I just kept it to myself and told my hubby and kids. I just waited for the announcement to roll around and that day was today!

I was contacted by Spellbinders today and was told I am among the 24 Finalist! I am so Honored. I never thought that I would be chosen from so many submissions....now the REAL, STIFF Competition begins! I have to make a 12x12 layout. It is a challenge and they want to see your best work. Spellbinders will send each of the 24 finalist product to completed the challenge. They will make the announcement on Feb. 27th. This is exciting and nerve-wracking all at once! I had to let you all in on my Good News. I know this is not about doll making, but most of you know how much I love ♥ paper! Yup, me and my "Paper Pretties".

I thought I would show you the card, the altered art project and the layout that made me a finalist. I had so much fun creating them.

You will not see much of me this week....I am DEEP in paper work....TAX TIME! No fun, but it must be done. We made our tax appointment for Thursday. This is what I have been up too! Busy, busy with bunnies...and I am very pleased with the way that these ~SWEET~ Bunnies turned out. They will be making their debut on Ebay tonight. I thought I would have been finished with them a day or two ago, but it is all the little details, that take the longest...I think.

I really enjoy making bunnies, they are some of my most favorite to make. Oh, by the way, these are my smaller dollies...love the smalls! And that little bunny bunny reminds me of SPRING! She is adorable and she is pretty small, as you can see compared to the Americana one (maybe that is big sis).

Warmer weather, open water and the sun! I think I may be having a bit of the "winter blues". Quite a few people know exactly what I am referring too. I finally finished up the dollie I have been working on for way to long! This is Gabby, she is so sweet in person. The pictures didn't turn out the best, there wasn't any sun today. We have major over-cast and just a winter mix...

Sweet Gabby and her kitty-cat will be on Ebay this evening. I am listing her for 3 days, to end on Sunday evening. Her lil kitty-cat is all needle-felted, with a painted face. My kiddies have a bit of a break today. Early out today, no school tomorrow and yesterday school was dismissed at 1 pm, due to the weather.

Winters Beauty...

For the past couple of days, we have had so much moisture in the air, it has created heavy, dense fog, which creates a BEAUTIFUL Winterland. This is about the only thing I love about winter....aside from newly, gentle fallen snow that kisses Mother Earth and sparkles from the sun and moon light. I love the look of the particles that "collect" to the trees...

It is beautiful! You can click on the pictures to enlarge them. We are suppose to get rain/snow. Rain for Minnesota in January is very unusual and we do not want to mix rain, with our cold temperatures....makes for dangerous conditions. I hope it passes us by. We have quite enough snow and do not need the rain.

A pine tree out our window. I am almost done with a dollie! Can you believe it. She will hold in her hand a neat lil needle-felted kitty-cat. I love kitty-cats. I was hoping to finish her today, but won't finish in time to take pictures of her, edit the pictures and list her. That is a whole days work there practically...

And one last picture. Boy, I sure do skip around *smirk* pictures and talking about winter, to my dollie, back to pictures, etc...HA! That is me, there is no rhyme or reason to my madness really. Ramblings....

Obviously I do not have any NEW handmades done....so you get to listen to my "mindless dribble"! *smirk* Most of you (that follow my blog), know that I have a son in 9th grade. Jordan comes home with a lot of homework (too much in my opinion, but who am I to say), at any rate he asks me for help. I was a pretty "smart cookie" in my day (or so I thought)! Have you ever heard of "Prepositional Phrases"? Google it and see if you can really find a straight answer!

They make Jordan depict practically every single thing you , was bad enough...in the late 80's and now they gave found more. Sadly to say, I could not really help him properly and he is going back to school tomorrow with unfinished homework. How very sad is that?

A few months back I started waking up with major jaw/teeth pain. I woke up clenching my teeth! What was up with that? I also noticed I started clenching my teeth in the day, during heavy thoughts....could I be stressed out? Most likely! So, I took it upon myself to purchase a Night Guard for my teeth....not exactly like the one above, but close to it. I molded it to my upper teeth and wore it for the first time last night. We shall see in a couple of days if it is worth the almost 20 bucks I spent on it. Takes me back to the days when I had to wear one at night, after braces!

Today was a nice day. We went to church, out to Perkin's for lunch and then to FAMILY BOWLING! It was fun. We have not done a FUN family outing together for a long time....it was LONG overdue. Lots of SMILES, Lots of Strikes/Spares and yummy eats! Of course the day could not go without some whining at the bowling alley, what else can children do. HA! We are use to it by now. AWAKE...

Have you ever seen this movie? The movie "Awake" is from 2007. I think I had heard about it then, but forgot about it. Well, I watched this movie last night (instead of working) and I must say, there was a lot of emotion is this movie. I will just say it has a "twist", that I would have never seen coming. Here is a little "blurb" on what the movie is about...

A psychological thriller about a common occurrence called "anesthetic awareness," a horrifying phenomenon wherein a patient's (Hayden Christenson) failed anesthesia leaves him fully conscious but physically paralyzed during surgery. The patient's charming new wife (Jessica Alba) is forced to struggle with her own demons as a terrifying drama unfolds around the couple.

I enjoyed the movie and thought it was pretty good. However, the subject (anesthetic awareness), is all too real! My Mom has had a total of 3 hip replacements and the last one did not go so well. My Mom was actually awake during surgery, but could not move. It had traumatized her for quite some time after. I am not going to wreck the movie....I'm just saying it was a good movie.

Other things going on, ummmm nothing really. I have been un-focused and can't concentrate...and hoping to get that back today! I plan on trying to work the whole day and maybe accomplish something in my studio! It is pretty mild here (26 degrees above zero), no wind and just "picture perfect". I hope these more mild temps stay for a while. After all, it is about 60 degrees warmer, then what it had been just a bit over a week ago. Now all we need today is for the SUN TO SHINE! Amazing right? I have finally finished a dollie...the first dollie for 2010! She is just a wee-lil thing. Measures in at not quite 12 inches tall. Her size is what makes her so stinkin adorable. I call her "Bits", because she is just a lil bitty thing...

I have all of my kiddies home today...NO SCHOOL! We have been BLASTED with cold weather, blizzard like conditions, high winds and now the light fluffy wind is just blowing...that was last night. We still have the cold temps, but it looks like a beautiful, still-life picture out right now. School was two hours late yesterday, when they should have canceled it. Today, looks nice, but then there is no school today --- go figure! I-90 was closed from right near here all the way to South Dakota. WOW, that does not happen that often...

I wish...

I wish.... It were not so cold out. We have been dealt with quite cold weather lately! It was 30 below zero lastnight. I don't even think it made it above zero today. Tomorrow, more of the same and throw some wind in there and you have some wonderful WINDCHILL ADVISORIES out. I wish I could be like our kitty-cat "King" and just sleep....all warm & toasty! He is such a sweet cat. I have not been getting much sleep, due to being sick...

I did "bite the bullet" and went to the Doctor. I went on the 1st ---- what a way to bring in the New Year! I got to spend about 4 hours in urgent care, waiting for an X-ray, waiting for my blood to be drawn and then waiting for my medicine. Not a great way to spend the first day of the new year. The Doc thought I had pneumonia, but it was bronchitis. Better to be safe then sorry I guess. He said in another day or two and it would have been pneumonia. So, I got my meds and I am on the mend...slowly, but surely.

Back to NORMALITY tomorrow? Maybe, if they do not call school off, because of the frigid cold temps. I have not done a thing in my studio. I miss creating, but am really lost as to what to create this time of year anyways. I hope your New Year has started out a lil better then mine...as for me, I must get my kiddies ready for tomorrow and for bed. All I can say is tomorrow is a New day, maybe it will be a better day. To New BEGINNINGS...

It sure has been a YEAR! So many things have happened and time sure has flown by. It seems as the years go on, the time goes faster. Tonight, it will be just me and the kiddies. It has been that way for the past 3 or 4 years. Hubby always seems to have to work...which is fine, I guess. At least I know that we are safe...at night this time of the year there can be a lot of careless people out there.

Bringing in 2010, I am very HOPEFUL!! New beginnings, NEW adventures, New memories. Let's not forget what we have gone through, to become who were are today, but let's move forward and become better beings. Wishing you the BEST in 2010, because after all...THE BEST IS YET TO COME! Lotza Nothin'

Ya like that language? Nothing like not having proper grammer eh? *smirk* I thought I would show ya'all a picture of my crazy Lulu! This picture was actually taken laying down on the floor and aiming up. Lulu is the most curious cat and is always trying to lay in the strangest places. We were going through the drawer, to this hutch and Lu just thought he had to jump up in the empty drawer, to see what was in there.....or not in there, in this case...I only use the hutch for receipts and pretties. Nope, no fancy dishes. LOL

Well, Christmas is over and soon the year will be over. We did have Christmas at my Mom's, but it was two days late. The weather here in Minnesota was just awful around Christmas, but it all worked out just fine. It is cold here, but at least it isn't snowing....God only knows we have had quite enough of that to last for the whole winter!

I am trying to kick a NASTY cold, that I feel is going to get must worse, before it gets better. It is starting to go into my lungs and sooooo much coughing. I even slept (tried to sleep, but didn't get much sleeping done) on the couch last night, so that I would not keep hubby up all night. I have not been getting much done...in the creating department.

We have been playing lots of BOGGLE! I love BOGGLE and so does Courtney. She is my little brainiac! When she gets older, her and I will have to play lots and lots of Scrabble. That is my FAVORITE! I have been trying to get a little something done for the Mercantile update....but it isn't looking too good. The kids are keeping me busy, along with this nasty cold. So, I may just not even try to win a losing battle. We shall see.

Other then ~Lotza Nothin' getting done...we are just hanging around the olde homestead and trying to keep warm. I did however manage to get my computer cleaned out! I had a ton of pictures of my dolls and such from as far back at 2006!! Sheer craziness. It runs much better now and I did purchase a bit more memory...so she should be running like a top dog, once that gets here and we install it. Toodles for now kiddies! ~Tonya

I purchased tickets for ~Circque Dreams Holidaze~ for my Mom and I, (I surprised her with the tickets and it was part of her Christmas present). I must say, it was FANTASTIC! Not a dull moment, so much sparkle, so much talent and you did not want the show to be over. Here is a link on YouTube for Circque Dreams Holidaze, if you want to view a sample of it.

We had a fun filled day with the show and then a bit of shopping...just roaming around really. I stayed the night and then drove back before another storm hit. There was really bad weather on Monday and I was worried that I would not be able to make it to Mom's and then from there, get to the show. I took it slow and made it fine. Along the way, there were so many cars in the ditch and accidents. Some from the night before and others that had just gone in. It did not look like the roads were slippery, but they were. Most of the vehicles that I seen in ditch were SUV's and trucks. For some reason they think they are invincible on ice, with 4-wheel drive. I will never understand that.

I got home around 3 pm yesterday, just in time for another storm to hit! Lots of snow, blowing and then last night rain. Hubby got called into work....and worked his 12 hour shift, until 6 this morning and now at 9:45, he is out there moving snow, so that we can all go to my Mom's. I feel so bad for him. He must be so very tired. We are suppose to get up to 20 inches of snow (or more) by Saturday...Oh Happy Day!!
